Parent Governor Election

We have received two nominations for one parent governor vacancy on the governing body and therefore need to hold an election. Ballot papers that are unique to each parent will be put into your child’s form folder. Please ask them to hand them to you once they have been received.
The deadline date for the return of these forms is Friday 8th April 2011. Forms should be returned to Julie Gard or placed into the ballot box in reception.
Governors

The full Governing Body meets once each term in the evening, starting at 7 pm, usually in November, March and July. These meetings consider standard agenda items from the Local Education Authority, receive reports on topical educational matters and receive a report from the Headteacher. Relevant members of staff are asked to contribute items for the Headteacher’s report and, when appropriate, may be asked to attend a meeting.
The Committees of the Governing Body: Finance, Sites and Buildings/Health and Safety, Pay and Personnel, School Improvement, also usually meet once each term and the minutes of these meetings are tabled at full Governing Body meetings.
The Governors’ Annual Report Is produced in June/July, in accordance with the provisions of Section 30 of the Education (No2) Act 1986 and includes information in accordance with DfES Circular No 8/99 and DfES Guidance on the Law, February 2004, ref GTTLC2004. A copy of this report is available for all staff at the school. Parents are advised that it is on the school website and that they may request a paper copy. If more than fifteen parents indicate that they wish to attend an Annual Meeting with Governors this is held a fortnight after publication of the report.
